Verbalate™
Duration:
6 Months
Verbalate was already live—a functional product with real users, real friction, and a clear ambition: to become the fastest, most intuitive way to translate, dub, and subtitle video at scale.
I didn’t join to redesign from scratch. I joined to push the product forward—refining the workflow, expanding capabilities, and aligning the experience with how translators actually work.
The Problem
The core functionality existed, but the experience didn’t fully support the complexity behind it.
Disconnected brand identity across the product
Workflows felt fragmented and unclear
Editing lacked structure and guidance
Advanced features existed but weren’t intuitive
The system didn’t fully reflect real translator behavior
Design Goal
Visual Identity

Verbalate’s landing page converted well, but the product experience felt disconnected. I aligned the app’s interface with the brand, creating a consistent visual language that carried through the entire experience and set the tone for the redesign.
Starting with the Editor.

Design Approach
I worked directly inside the live product—testing flows, identifying friction, and iterating in real time with the CEO and engineers. Alongside this, I also used AI tools like ChatGPT and Gemini to accelerate the process—breaking down complex workflows, exploring multiple UX directions quickly, and stress-testing ideas before implementation.
This created a fast, iterative loop:
Test → Think → Explore → Refine → Validate
1.
The editor evolved into a structured workspace—combining timeline-based video and audio interaction, side-by-side transcription and translation, and a clear visual hierarchy that enables faster, more focused editing.

Built-in cues for pacing and readability.
2.
The product was restructured to support collaborative workflows, introducing features like contextual comments on translation blocks and a dedicated suggestions panel, enabling teams to review, refine, and iterate together in real time.

Rather than a linear process, this was an iterative loop—working closely with the CEO and engineers, testing ideas directly in the product. Ideas were tested in context, not in isolation

From Tool to Guided Workflow

The projects homepage was redesigned to give users better visibility and control, with clearer organization, status indicators, and quicker access to active and completed projects.
